Fire hose shall be 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 50 feet in length. If 1 inch diameter fire hose is used, each length of hose must [...] be lined commercial fire hose that conforms to Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc., Standard 19 or Federal Specification ZZ-H-451E. A hose that bears the Label of Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc., as lined fire hose is accepted as conforming to the requirement. The two hoses installed onboard the vessel were not marked UL19. O/o is to provide evidence of hoses meeting the standard or replace hoses to ones meeting the requirements stated above.

Have a nozzle that has a 1/2 inch solid stream orifice or a combination nozzle approved by the Commandant in accordance with § 162.027-6 of this Chapter. The nozzle must be bronze or another material that has strength and corrosion resistance properties equal to those of bronze. MI observed both hoses equipped with plastic nozzles, one of which was degraded. O/o is to replace both nozzles to meet the standard.
