The following operational hazards to machinery and electrical systems were identified and must be corrected: 1. The STBD generator fuel filter is not equipped with a metal bowl or flame shield. 2. The electrical receptacle on the STBD/Forward side of the machinery space is compromised and needs to be replaced. 3. The battery box covers need to be properly secured and mounted. 4. The wires for the high water bilge alarm in the lazarette need to be properly secured. 5. Remove all excess materials from the machinery space. 6. The STBD generator overload protection device (breaker) is oversized (125A) and should not exceed 89.2 amps. Replaced with an appropriate sized breaker. 7. There are numerous unsafe practices, fire hazards, and other hazardous situations that must be corrected in the machinery space.

Coast Guard inspector received the manufacturer's specifications for the newly acquired generator and identified a 660 pound deletion of weight. Simplified Stability tests will be required anytime the addition or deletion of weight exceeds 500 pounds. In addition, anytime the center of gravity of the engine/generator that is being installed significantly differs from the engine being removed, a stability test will be required. Owners and Operators of Small Passenger Vessels must abide by these regulations if they plan to re-power their vessel. The vessel is given the deadline of 01JAN2024 to conduct a satisfactory Simplified Stability test.
