Main and auxiliary machinery essential for the propulsion and safety of the ship shall be provided with effective means for its operation and control. Vessel sustained a failure of the port Z-Drive following an internal water leak coming in contact with an electrical system for the drive’s control unit in the engine control room. Vessel is to return to port and enact repairs necessary to ensure the safe operation of the steering and propulsion system.

Resolution: Finding Number 550.0 - Port Azimuth Prolusion "A" Power Supply as Replaced. The Bow Tunnel Thruster and Port Azimuth Propulsion were both tested and found in satisfactory condition.

Whenever an accident occurs to a ship or a defect is discovered, that affects the safety of the ship or the efficiency or completeness of its life-saving appliances or other equipment, the master or owner of the ship shall report at the earliest opportunity to the Administration, who shall determine whether a survey is necessary. Vessel experienced loss of #3 MDE while operating in the Gulf of Mexico, Block 25. Vessel is to conduct repairs to the satisfaction of the attending surveyor.
