Each item of survival craft equipment must be of good quality, and efficient for the purpose it is intended to serve. MI observed the 22-person life float to be worn and damaged. Service life float to satisfaction of attending MI. Vessel is to have temporary or replacement life float on-board to meet required equipment listed on the COI.

On a vessel of more than 19.8 meters (65 feet) in length, the public address system must be a fixed installation and be audible during normal operating conditions throughout the accommodation spaces and all other spaces normally manned by crew members. PA system was not audible in galley area and salon. Make PA in compliance with regulations to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector.

The master and crew of a vessel will be familiar with the content of and have mounted at the operating station, emergency instructions containing the actions to be taken in the event of fire, heavy weather, or man overboard conditions. Except when in the judgment of the cognizant OCMI the operation of a vessel does not present one of the hazards listed, the emergency instruction placard should contain at least the applicable portions of the “Emergency Instructions” listed in §185.512. The emergency instructions must be designed to address the particular equipment, arrangement, and operation of each individual vessel. Vessel utilizes Jason's Cradle. Incorporate Jason's Cradle into Emergency Instructions and station bill to the satisfaction of attending Marine Inspector.

A vessel that has a power driven fire pump, must have a sufficient number of fire hydrants to reach any part of the vessel using a single length fire hose. Portside fire main piping was found to be wasted, resulting in a hole that reduced the firefighting capability.

All cable and wire must be installed with metal supports spaced not more than 24 inches apart, in a manner to avoid chafing and damage. Portside overhead electrical wiring is attached with zip ties.

If the vessel carries more than one life float or buoyant apparatus in a group with each group secured by a painter. Each must be secured in a series or by a single painter. Top two lifefloats were attached in series but not to the bottom, in turn, not attached to the weak link.

An inspection for renewal of a Certificate of Inspection is conducted to determine if the vessel is in satisfactory condition, fit for the service intended, and complies with all applicable regulations. The vessel has not completed a satisfactory renewal inspection. Vessel cannot carry passengers or cargo until conducting a satisfactory renewal inspection.

02 paddles were missing and 02 were not servicable.

6 red hand held flares expired this month. Port Engineer purchased 6 new and placed on vessel.

Water light on stbd ring buoy was attached to buoy via an eye splice vs a removable clip. Issued rqmt to remove eye splice and attach water light to the buoy via a halyard clip vs eye splice.

Remove fuel oil from flame impingement bowls for center and port main diesel engines.

Repair water leakage on starboard rudder post.

Provide required items in 1st aid kit in accordance with 46CFR184.710.
