Each lifeline on a ring life buoy must be: buoyant, of at least 60 feet in length, non-kinking, a diameter of at least 5/16 inch, have a breaking strength of at least 1,124 pounds, and be of a dark color if synthetic, or of a type certified to be resistant to deterioration from ultraviolet light. Vessel’s life ring line was severely deteriorated. Operator replaced with new line.

The 25 person life float was damaged where the grab lines attached to the float body. Repair or replace the 25 person life float. Any repairs must be in accordance with the manufactures instructions. Vessel is limited to carrying a total of 25 persons until Coast Guard approved survival craft appropriate for the route, and accommodating a total of 46 persons is placed aboard.
