Machinery and equipment installed on each vessel must be suitable for the vessel and its operation and for the purpose intended. Steering pump number 2 does not allow the rudders to move back to amidship after being turned to port. Vessel is restricted from carrying passengers until steering control on both pumps operates as required verified by the attending Marine Inspector.

Spanner wrenches must be provided for each fire hydrant. Fire station #2 is missing a spanner wrench. Replace spanner wrench.

Penetrations in A-Class fire control boundaries for electrical cables must prevent passage of flame and smoke for one hour. Aft tank/steering pump void, on aft bulkhead, has two penetrations on port and two penetrations on starboard side needing sealant. Seal all penetrations, four total.

Electrical equipment must protect passengers, crew, and other persons, and vessel from electrical hazards. Chest refer in bar area appliance cord end is missing ground prong. Replace cord end.

The construction and arrangement of a vessel must allow the safe operation of the vessel in accordance with the terms of its Certificate of Inspection giving consideration to provisions for a seaworthy hull, protection against fire, means of escape in case of a sudden unexpected casualty, guards and rails in hazardous places, ventilation of enclosed spaces, and necessary facilities for passengers and crew. Vessel has sustained bow and railing damage after an allision with Chicago Lock wall. Vessel may transit from Michigan Ave to Ogden Slip with crew only in order to further assess damage. Vessel is restricted from operations with passengers until assessment and repairs are conducted to the satisfaction of local OCMI.

The #2 void space is being used as a storage space (High Risk Service Space, type 9), however, the fire control plan shows it as an Auxiliary Machinery, void space (type 12). Either discontinue use as a storage space or change the fire control plan and ensure proper structural fire protection is provided for the space.

Vessel fire detection system was not operational during attempted In-Service Inspection. Make repairs and test fire detection system to the satisfaction of Marine Inspector.

USCG Marine Inspector must complete an onsite inspection of life saving equipment, fire fighting equipment, and navigation equipment. USCG MI must witness satisfactory drills and perform a complete deck walk of all compartments. USCG MI must witness proper operation of the fire and bilge pumps. Due date is 90 days from the date of issue of this requirement. This deficiency will not be used to make risk-based decisions.

Stability letter has not been issued to vessel. Stability test data and stability calculation are being reviewed by the Marine Safety Center. Once received, post stability letter at the operating station.

Life jackets were not available for inspection, verification of stowage/safety plan following vessel modification. Each life jacket must be on-board for inspection and properly marked, stowed, and verified with the safety plan.

Unable to demonstrate operation of public address system. System was not installed during vessels modification. In the presence of a CG MI, verify operation of public address system.

Stern light is inoperable. In the presence of a CG MI, verify operation of Stern Light

Due to weather Fire drill and MOB drill needs to still be conducted/witnessed by USCG Marine Inpectors.

Trouble shoot and make repairs to STBD generator. Conduct load test of Gen for 30 mins prior to carrying passengers to the satisfaction of attending CG inspector.

Repair damage canopy rail on STBD aft corner. 46 CFR 2.01-10(e)
