AVH01: The steering system failed while u/w. The hydraulic ram was leaking hydraulic oil. Thus, the system lost pressure and the vessel could not steer as designed. The Captain quickly pumped the system with hydraulic fluid using a pump from under the console. The system regained enough pressure to return the vessel to the pier. Upon further investigation is when the hydraulic ram showed signs of a failure on the front seal. Vessel is getting hauled for DD/ISE and will rectify repairs.
