Where the contents and use of a space are such that there is a doubt to its classification, the space shall be treated as a space within the relevant category having the most stringent boundary requirements. Open locker space on deck 9 aft in pax buffet area is being used to store flammable materials (cardboard, plywood panels, flame locker) in the manner of a Category 13 service space but is classified as a Category 5 open deck space. The sapce is not enclosed as a Category 13 space should be, nor does it have fire detection or suppression required of such a space by SOLAS 01 10.6.1.1.
