At each initial and subsequent inspection for certification of a vessel, the owner or managing operator shall be prepared to conduct tests and have the vessel ready for inspections of the hull structure and its appurtenances, including the following: Inspection of the condition of the superstructure, masts, and similar arrangements constructed on the hull, and on a sailing vessel all spars, standing rigging, running rigging, blocks, fittings, and sails. In accordance with CID Memo 03-11 the weight test on the forward nets should be conducted with a safety factor of 2 at intervals not to exceed 2 years. The last weight test was conducted during the vessel's drydock in 2023. Conduct a new weight test witnessed by Marine Inspectors once the forward beams are replaced. 46 CFR 176.802 (a)(2)

Sidelights mean a green light on the starboard side and a red light on the port side each showing an unbroken light over an arc of the horizon of 112.5 degrees and so fixed as to show the light from right ahead to 22.5 degrees abaft the beam on its respective side. The design, materials, and construction of masts, posts, yards, booms, bowsprits, and standing rigging on a sailing vessel must be suitable for the intended service. The hull structure must be adequately reinforced to ensure sufficient strength and resistance to plate buckling. The cognizant OCMI may require the owner to submit detailed calculations on the strength of the mast, post, yards, booms, bowsprits, and standing rigging to the Marine Safety Center for evaluation. Identified crack in nut under forward center furling and identified missing bolt in connecting plate from the boom to the mast. Repair and replace to the satisfaction of the USCG. 46 CFR 177.330
