On a vessel of at least 7.9 meters (26 feet) in length, a visual and audible alarm must be provided at the operating station to indicate a high water level in normally unmanned spaces. Non of the alarms for high level bilges were operating correctly. Indicators worked but not audible. 46 CFR 182.530 (a)

Stern light lens was discolored. Replacement lens is needed. 46 CFR 183.420

Resolution: Techs from Bay Diesel diagnosed a bad seal at that location. They shipped a new seal which was received and installed today. Engine was test run and leak has been resolved.

A bilge suction must be fitted with a suitable strainer having an open area not less than three times the area of the bilge pipe. Metallic bilge pick up screen had deteriorated and broken apart creating a clogging hazard. Repair/replace to satisfaction of attending Marine Inspector.

ABYC (07/16 edition)10.8.4.1 states a maximum of four conductor terminals shall be permitted to be installed on a single battery stud. Battery located on starboard side of engine room had more than four conductors on the stud.

Tie rod connecting two rudders was observed contacting vertical stanchion creating a hazard that could impede steering.
