Each emergency generating set arranged to be automatically started shall be equipped with starting devices approved by the Administration with a stored energy capacity of at east three consecutive starts. A second source of energy shall be provided for an additional three starts within 30 minutes unless manual starting can be demonstrated to be effective. PSCO observed during operational test that the emergency generator failed to start. Crew attempted to start manually for approximately 2 min. until they began replacing gasket. The generator was finally started after 19 min. Deficiency was corrected on the spot. 74 SOLAS (97) CH II-1/44.2
