During routine check of the bow void water was found leading to the discovery of a fracture approximately 8"x 1/16". The fracture was located 10' fwd of bulkhead 4th gusset fwd of rake end. Marine Surveyor used wedges and epoxy to prevent water ingress. MSU Paducah issued 835 allowing vessel to transit to Cincinnati for offload. Barge was off loaded in Cincinnati raising damaged area 1.5-2ft above the waterline. Vessel authorized to proceed to Carline shipyard in Geismar, LA MM183 LMR for permanent repairs. Vessel not permitted to load cargo until repairs complete and to the satisfaction of the attending Coast Guard Marine Inspector. Barge will be placed in a protected area of the tow and monitored twice a watch during transit. De-watering pumps will be available outside the space.
