Electrical installations on vessels shall be such that the safety of passengers, crew and vessel from electrical hazards will be assured. Marine Inspector noted a reading of 10 amps with ground detection button depressed and on shore power. When vessel switched to ships power, Marine Inspector noted ground reading of 0.8 amps. Vessel is required to identify and eliminate all grounds and prove proper operation of ground detection system.
