If any of the equipment or records have not been properly maintained, a qualified servicing facility must perform the required inspections, maintenance procedures, and hydrostatic pressure tests. A tag issued by a qualified servicing organization, and attached to each extinguisher, may be accepted as evidence that the necessary maintenance procedures have been conducted. Vessel fixed and portable fire extinguishers past due for service. Prior to carriage of passengers, all required fixed and portable fire extinguishers must be serviced.

Vessel may continue to operate on a Lakes, Bays, and Sound Route until deficiency is rectified.

Each item of survival craft equipment must be of good quality, and efficient for the purpose it is intended to serve. Line must also be of a dark color if synthetic, or of a type certified to be resistant to deterioration from ultraviolet light. Starboard top life float is required to be renewed or restored as original due to deterioration. Life float line has deteriorated due to excessive ultraviolet light exposure and the loops affixing the grab-line have also deteriorated. To extend the life of life floats, it is recommended that the life floats be covered while the vessel is not in use.
