On a vessel of at least 26 feet in length, a visual and audible alarm must be provided at the operating station to indicate a high water level in a machinery space bilge. The visual and audible alarm for the aft, #4 bilge space was found to be inoperable.

Each buoyant apparatus must be fitted with a lifeline, pendants, a painter, and a light. The painter line was found to be deteriorated. Additionally, maine inspectors noted the following: the buoyant apparatus was stenciled with the incorrect amount of persons it could accommodate, the weak link is not appropriate for the amount of persons it can accommodate, and to maintain its integrity, the buoyant apparatus needs to be painted/re-coated.
