The construction of all doors and door frames in ``A'' class divisions, with the means of securing them when closed, shall provide resistance to fire as well as to the passage of smoke and flame, as far as practicable, equivalent to that of the bulkheads in which the doors are situated. Such doors and door frames shall be constructed of steel or other equivalent material. PSCO observed FSD/10/VI/007, FSD/10/VI/008, FSD/08/IV/015, FSD/06/VI/003, unable to fully close. 74 SOLAS 97 II-2/30.2 16 abc

In addition to complying with the specific provisions for fire integrity of bulkheads and decks mentioned elsewhere in this part, the minimum fire integrity of all bulkheads and decks shall be as prescribed in tables 26.1 to 26.4. Where, due to any particular structural arrangements in the ship, difficulty is experienced in determining from the tables the minimum fire integrity value of any divisions, such values shall be determined to the satisfaction of the Administration. Spaces are classified according to their fire risk as shown in categories (1) to (14). A/C machinery space on port side deck 8, MVZ 3 is a category (10) space where storage of combustibles is prohibited. Stairway enclosures in accommodation and service spaces shall have direct access from the corridors and be of a sufficient area to prevent congestion, having in view the number of persons likely to use them in an emergency. Within the perimeter of such stairway enclosures, only public toilets, lockers of non-combustible material providing storage for non-hazardous safety equipment and open information counters are permitted. Only public spaces, corridors, public toilets, special category spaces, other escape stairways required by regulation 28.1.5 and external area are permitted to have direct access to these stairway enclosures. PSCO observed multiple chairs, wheelchairs and waste receptacles located in category 2 spaces. 74 SOLAS 97 II-2/29.2 16 abc

11 - Life Saving Appliances › N/A - No Subsystem › Lifeboats

All life-saving appliances and arrangements shall comply with the applicable requirements of the Code. The propeller shafting shall be so arranged that the propeller can be disengaged from the engine. Provision shall be made for ahead and astern propulsion of the lifeboat. Port side tender #8 experienced a grounding incident which bent the rudder and required temporary repairs to the hull by the crew. Flag issued a dispensation assigned the tender as a lifeboat, however, class has not confirmed repairs or attested that the manueverability and integrity of the lifeboat are adequate. 74 SOLAS 20 III/34 LSA Code 4.4.6.5

Resolution: No.8 tender boat now lowered into the water and maneuvered under supervision of the surveyor with satisfactory results. The cracks iwo of the Stbd shaft bracket found not penetrating and repaired with proper epoxy by crew.

General arrangement plans shall be permanently exhibited for the guidance of the ship's officers, showing clearly for each deck the control stations, the various fire sections enclosed by "A" class divisions, the sections enclosed by "B" class divisions together with particulars of the fire detection and fire alarm systems, the sprinkler installations, the fire-extinguishing appliances, means of access to different compartments, decks, etc. and the ventilating system, including particulars of the fan control positions, the position of dampers and identification numbers of the ventilating fans serving each section. Two fire-doors on deck 04 were found intentionally removed - the fire control plan has not been updated to reflect this change. 74 SOLAS 20 II-2/15.2.4.1
