A gas carrier shall comply with the requirements of the IGC. In zones on open decks with 3m of any cargo tank outlet...the following may be installed: certified safe type equipment and through runs of cables. PSCO observed the following: #2 stbd cargo pump junction box glands not certified safe, 01 light above #2P cargo tank was not able to be determined if it was certified safe, unapproved splice on electrical light cabling in the crossover manifold. Identified multiple instances of dead end cabling on light fixtures throughout cargo area.

Where electrical equipment is installed in gas dangerous spaces or zones it should be to the satisfaction of the administration and approved by the relevant authorities recognized by the administration for operation in the flammable atmosphere. While conducting the deck walk PSCOs observed 2 certified safe lights with deteriorated cable couplings located on the COT 4 Port & starboard exterior compressor room bulkhead. Additionally, 5 cracked lights were found in the cargo compressor room. SOLAS 74 2020 consolidated Chapter VII Reg 13.1, 1993 IGC Code Chapter 10.1.5
