46 CFR 185.614: Portable watertight containers for distress flares and smoke signals shall be of a bright color, and containers shall be clearly marked in legible contrasting letters at least .5" high: "DISTRESS SIGNALS". Marine inspector found portable watertight container not marked.

46 CFR 180.70(d): A vessel must carry one floating waterlight, unless it is limited to daytime operation. Inspector found waterlight battery expired. Vessel is restricted to daytime operations only until new "approved" battery is placed.

33 CFR 83.23(d): A power driven vessel of less than 12 meters in length may, in lieu of the lights prescribed in paragraph (a) of this Rule, exhibit an all-round white light and side lights. MI discovered the vessel's installed canopy extending higher than the all-round white light.

46 CFR 180.68(b)(1): Lakes, Bays and sounds, and Rivers routes. A vessel must carry three hand red flares. MI found 01 expired flare.

A vessel must carry either a first-aid kit approved under approval series 160.041 or a kit with equivalent contents and instructions. For equivalent kits, the contents must be stowed in a suitable, watertight container that is marked “First-Aid Kit”. A first-aid kit must be easily visible and readily available to the crew. Contents of first aid kit were expired.

Except as allowed by paragraph (d) of this section, each life jacket must be approved in accordance with either §160.002, §160.005, or §160.055 in subchapter Q of this chapter, or other standard specified by the Commandant, including, but not limited to, approval series 160.155 or 160.176. Retroflective tape is delaminated and needs to be replaced on child life jackets.

Lakes, bays, and sounds, and rivers routes. A vessel on a lakes, bays, and sounds, or rivers route must carry: Three hand red flare distress signals approved in accordance with §160.021 in subchapter Q of this chapter, or other standard specified by the Commandant; and Three hand orange smoke distress signals approved in accordance with §160.037 in subchapter Q of this chapter, or other standard specified by the Commandant. A hand red flare distress signal approved in accordance with §160.021 in subchapter Q of this chapter, or other standard specified by the Commandant, including, but not limited to, approval series 160.121 may substitute for hand orange smoke distress signals. Vessel only had 1 hand red flare on board.

Anchor was missing.

Stern light was mounted to low to be visible.

Vessel was in a collision and had the port side bow ripped open about 1 foot and some welds cracked and the forward railing ripped off. Repair prior to ops.

Portable fire extinguisher found discharged. Corrected on the spot to satisfaction of attending Marine Inspector.

First Aid kit found with x2 waterlogged components. Corrected on the spot to the satisfaction of attending Marine Inspector.

Vessel must properly mark hull with vessel name and state numbers.

Vessel must replace lifebuoy to include a 60ft lifeline and a (properly functioning) light float with detachable 3-6ft lanyard.

Vessel required to have 3 red flares and 3 orange smokes.

Vessel required to post lifejacket donning procedures.
