A vessel on which a pre-engineered fixed gas fire extinguishing system is installed must have the following equipment at the operating station: A means to reset devices used to automatically shut down ventilation systems and engines as required by paragraph (a)(3) of this section. During operational test of pre-engineered fire extinguishing system shutdown, operator was unable to override shut down and restart engines. 46 CFR 181.420(b)(3)

Repairs or alteration to the hull machinery, or equipment that affect the safety of the vessel must not be made without approval of the cognizant OCMI, except during an emergency. Vessel struck another vessel causing exterior and sail damage to vessel and other vessel received unknown damage. Vessel is not permitted to carry passengers prior to an MI conducting a damage assessment and internal structural exam. Vessel is required to complete an inspection of rigging and components prior to movement to drydock location and notify Coast Guard results of completing safety checks.

A vessel must carry one floating waterlight, unless it is limited to daytime operation, in which no floating waterlight is required. Each ring life buoy with a floating waterlight must have a lanyard of at least 3 feet in length but not more than 6 feet, securing the waterlight around the body of the vessel. The waterlight was attached with a lanyard, however, the lanyard was deteriorating due to sun exposure. Replace the lanyard to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46 CFR 185.700(d)(2)
