Fire doors in main vertical bulkheads, galley boundaries and stairway enclosures, the approximate time of closure for hinged fire doors shal be no more than 40 s and no less than 10 s from the beginning of their movement. PSCO observed multiple hinged and double leaf fire screen doors on all decks and in each MVZ closing too fast. All fire screen doors throughout vessel need to be adjusted to appropriate closing times. - 74 SOLAS (20) II-2/9.4.1.1.5.2. 40 ac

Resolution: All hinged and leaf fire screen doors were adjusted and repaired, as applicable, by the crew. The closure timing of the doors were tested to the attending surveyor's satisfaction. See Documents.

PSCO discovered that vessel's SMS does not have standardized training for the ship specific design and installed life saving equipment. Current training given to crew w/emergency duties are based on Safety Officer's knowledge and experiences. SMS needs to address standardization of crew training. An external ISM audit report, sat to the USCG, must be submitted prior to clearance of the deficiency. 74 SOLAS (20) IX/3.1 ISM Code A.7 17c

Such doors and door frames shall be constructed of steel or other equivalent material. Fire screen doors 03201 and 04209 did not fully close when activated. 74 SOLAS (01) II-2/30.2 10c

PSCO tested smoke detectors on various decks which included main laundry, public spaces, corridors, and passenger cabins in both newly modified and existing spaces which failed to activate during initial testing. Crew was able to retest identified detectors with satisfactory results during expanded exam. 74 SOLAS 01 II-2/13.1.1
