While conducting examination of steering gear room, PSCO found an excessive amount of standing sea water that had leaked from the rudder post and had overflowed from the containment area (approx 3" high) into the entire space. Class to attest to the proper seal function on rudder stock.

Resolution: The steering System was operationally tested, visually inspected by undersigned surveyor and found to be satisfactory. The Rudder Stock Simplex seal is located at about 1500 mm (4.9 FT) above the vessels designed water line.
