On ships carrying flammable or toxic products or both, a water-spray system for cooling, fire prevention and crew protection should be installed to cover: boundaries of superstructures and deck houses normally manned, cargo compressor rooms, cargo pump room, storerooms containing high fire risk items and cargo control room, all facing the cargo area. Marine Inspector witnessed a total of 17 nozzles on compressor room clogged; 4 aft, 5 starboard, 8 forward. As well as 9 nozzles clogged on middle row of superstructure. 74 SOLAS (2020) VII/13.1 IGC (93) 11.3.1.4 40ac

For the spaces listed in 13.6.7 alarms should be activated for flammable products when the vapor concentrations reach 30% of the lower flammable limit. PSCO observed the fixed gas sampling system was reading the lower flammable limit incorrectly due to not being calibrated correctly. Pressure relief valve signs on all tank domes were incorrect.
