A vessel not required to have a power driven fire pump by § 181.300 must have at least three 9.5 liter (2 1/2 gallon) buckets, with an attached lanyard satisfactory to the cognizant OCMI, placed so as to be easily available during an emergency. The words “FIRE BUCKET” must be stenciled in a contrasting color on each bucket. Marine Inspector observed fire buckets severely corroded with holes in the bottom of the bucket. Vessel must replace all fire buckets. 46 CFR 181.610

Vessel rep shall replace 60 foot lifeline. 46 CFR 180.70 (c)(2)

Marine inspector observed EPIRB beyond four years of manufactured date, beyond the manufacturer recommendation, and installed on vessel EPIRB. Vessel rep bought and installed new Hydrostatic release unit for EPIRB use prior to marine inspector departure. 46 CFR 185.740 (b)
