Initial inspection shows that Belmonte has multiple cracks, including a 2 meter open crack, as well as damaged structural members at the bottom of No. 4 cargo/heavy weather ballast hold. SOLAS (2001 Consolidated) Ch. II-1 (3-1) Vessel is detained until repairs are carried out to the satisfaction of the attending Germanischer Lloyd Surveyor and the Coast Guard.
