Whenever a nautical school ship is placed upon the dock, it shall be the duty of the master, owner or agent to report the same to the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection, so that a thorough inspection may be made by the Coast Guard to determine what is necessary to make such a nautical school ship seaworthy, if the condition or age of the nautical school ship, in the judgment of the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection, renders such examination necessary. USCG MI identified areas of frame wastage in both the Port and STBD wing tanks, frames require repair or replacement. The vessel's COI route has been reduced to "Partially Protected Waters" until repairs are completed. Repair is required in any case NLT than the vessels next dry-dock. Repair plans to be submitted and approved by OCMI prior to commencing work.

Machinery must be suitable in type and design for the purpose intended. Installations not addressed by this subpart are subject to the applicable regulations in Subchapter F (Marine Engineering) and Subchapter J (Electrical Engineering) of this chapter. Vessel reported a loss of throttle response while underway. After anchoring the throttle started to operate correctly and the problem could not be duplicated. Have tech rep troubleshoot to determine cause and repair. Complete a sea trail to the satisfaction of the attending Coast Guard Marine Inspector. Vessel is not authorized to carry students as a sub chapter R vessel until this deficiency is cleared by the Coast Guard.
