In tankers: cargo pumps, ballast pumps and stripping pumps, installed in cargo pump-rooms and driven by shafts passing through pump room bulkheads shall be fitted with temperature sensing devices for bulkhead shaft glands, bearings, and pump casings. A continuous audible and visual alarm signal shall be automatically effected in the cargo control room or the pump control station. The temperature sensing device on the upper and lower shaft glands for cargo pump #1, the upper shaft gland cargo pump #3, and the upper shaft gland on ballast pump #2, had loose wiring connections to the temperature sensing devices, showing exposed inner wires from the outer sheathing, in the cargo pump room.
