0936-Steering gear- The main steering gear nad rudder stock shall be of adequate strength and capable of steering the ship at maximum ahead service speed. When opearting the #2 steering pump (on both electrical systems) in NFU mode, PSCO observed excessive jockeying while rudder was moving to port and starboard. Test was conducted multiple times with same outcome.

0899-Prevention other-Measn of control or flammable liquids shall be provided to limit the fire growth potential in every space of the ship. PSCO observed multiple containers designated as flammable, toxic, acid and various tpyes of lube/hydraulic oil in the steering gear room with no installed fire fighting medium in the space. Notable chemical smell and irritation was evident when entering the spae causing a hazard to the crew.
