A vessel on which a pre-engineered fixed gas fire extinguishing system is installed must have the following equipment at the operating station... An audible alarm that sounds upon discharge. The starboard side extinguishing system does not sound the audible alarm upon discharge. Restore in accordance with manufacturer's guidance to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46 CFR 181.420(b)(2)

Each floating waterlight... must be attached to the lanyard with a corrosion-resistant clip. Waterlight on the primary lifering attached without corrosion resistant clip. Install as discussed to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46 CFR 180.70(d)(3)

A fire pump must be capable of both remote operation from the operating station and local operations at the pump. Local switch inoperable. Replace switch and demonstrate proper operation to satisfaction of marine inspector.

An exposed hazard, such as gears or rotating machinery, must be properly protected by a cover, guard, or rail. Rotating belts on forward end of starboard engine are not covered or protected. Provide guard or cover for rotating parts of engine to the satisfaction of marine inspector.

Each life jacket must be marked with Type I retro-reflective material approved in 46 CFR 164.018 or other standard specified by the Commandant. All adult life-jackets retro-reflective material was wasted. Replace. 46CFR185.604(h)

If the vessel carries more than one life float or buoyant apparatus in a group with each group secured by a single painter: each life float and buoyant apparatus must be individually attached to the painter by a line long enough that each life float or buoyant apparatus can float without contacting any other life float or buoyant apparatus in the group. The second life float in the group was not individually attached to the painter. Attach second life float in group to the painter with a line long enough to not contact the other life float. Vessel is restricted to not more than 3 miles from shore until resolved to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46CFR180.137(e)(3)

A vessel must be fitted with a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) type accepted general marine radar system for surface navigation with a radar screen mounted at the primary operating station if: the vessel has a limited coastwise route and carries more than 49 passengers. Vessel's radar was inoperable. Vessel's restricted to a Lakes, Bays, and Sounds route until resolved to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46CFR184.404(a)

The cognizant OCMI may require that a vessel and its equipment undergo any additional test or inspection deemed reasonable and necessary to determine that the vessel and its equipment are suitable for the service in which they are to be employed. Vessel identified examinations of rigging equipment in PMP, however vessel did not have a record of these examinations occurring at the prescribed intervals. Provide an examination record as per the vessel's PMP to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46CFR176.840

Each sewage retention device must have a means of indicating when the device is more than 3/4 full by volume. The sewage tank level indicating gauge is unreadable. Replace gauge and prove operation to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 33CFR159.83

Each vessel that does not demonstrate compliance in accordance with § 178.310(c) of this chapter must Have permanent loading marks placed on each side of the vessel forward and aft to indicate the maximum allowable trim and amidships to indicate the maximum allowable draft. Vessel's current loading marks are not permanently installed. Make permanent at next drydock. 46CFR185.602(b),(c)(2)

A fire pump must be capable of both remote operation from the operating station and local operations at the pump. Vessel's fire pump inoperable. Vessel restricted to 49 passengers until proper operation of the fire pump is performed to attending marine inspector. 46 CFR 181.300(e)

Sail rigging and components are to be maintained in accordance with good marine practice. Observed chaffing in running rigging loops below boom. Replace running rigging. 46 CFR 176.800

A visual indicator must be provided at the operating station to indicate when any automatic bilge pump is operating. No indicator for automatic bilge pumps. Install visual indicator for automatic bilge pump system or install manual bilge pumps. 46 CFR 182.530(c)

Except as provided in 80.13(c), stations must have an authorization granted by the Federal Communications Commission. Vessel's FCC Safety Radiotelephony certificate expired. 47 CFR 80.405

A vessel on a limited coastwise route must carry six hand red flare distress signals and six hand orange smoke signals. A red hand flare distress signal may be substituted for any of the hand orange smoke distress signals. Vessel's red hand flare distress signals are expired. Replace expired distress signals. 46 CFR 180.68

Vessels operated solely within 20 nautical miles of land must be equipped with a VHF-DSC radiotelephone installation meeting the requirements of § 80.1101(c)(2). VHF radio missing LAT/LONG for DSC operation.

Overcurrent protection must be provided for each ungrounded conductor for the purpose of opening the electric circuit if the current reaches a value that causes an excessive or dangerous temperature in the conductor insulation. Permanently installed cabin fans require overcurrent protection.

A bilge suction must be fitted with a suitable strainer having an open area not less than three times the area of the bilge pipe. Strainer was worn and needed replacing.

Each life float and buoyant apparatus weak link must be secured to the painter at one end and to the vessel on the other end. The weak link was connected to the painter on one end and then the railing course utilizing a rope and clip.

Vessel does not have a Preventative Maintenance Plan (PMP) that specifically address their vessel's sail rigging equipment and components. Provide PMP IAW USCG NVIC 02-16.

On a vessel of at least 26 ft in length, a visual and audible alarm must be provided at the operating station to indicate a high water level; Vessel has one visual and audible indicator for port side and one for stbd side but the but the indicator does not indicate the location of the high water. Provide alarm and visual indicator for each space a high water alarm is located.

A visual indicator must be provided at the operating station to indicate when any automatic bilge pump is operating; Vessel automatic bilge pump visual indicators are not located at the operating station. Provide visual indicators at the operating station.

An exposed hazard, such as gears or rotating machinery, must be properly protected by a cover, guard, or rail. Provide an adequate means of protection on both port and starboard main engine auxiliary drives.

Repair visual indicator for port high water alarm IAW 46 CFR 182.530.

Install machinery guards over rotating belts in the port and stbd engine compartments.

Remove wire tie from marine steering line - blue hydraulic hose in the port steering compartment. As necessary, re-attach the marine steering line with a dedicated fastener. Note: Current set-up could lead to chafing and rupture of the marine steering line and/or the hydraulic line.

Provide proof of compliance with 46 CFR 16 Drug and Alcohol Program.

Provide rails for bow or other alternate means as determined by OCMI.

Ensure that revised structural calculations for the vessel, incorporating the actual laminate test results.
