For tankers of > 20,000 DWT, the protection of cargo tanks shall be achieved by a fixed inert gas system IAW the requirements of the FSS Code. The inert gas system shall be designed to be capable of rendering and maintaining the atmosphere of the relevant cargo tanks non-flammable. PSCO observed that the span gas bottle used to calibrate the IGG system did not have a certificate validating its expiration date. Vessel must provide class report to CG showing that new span installation/certification and the IGG system calibration for that bottle. 74 SOLAS (14) II-2/4.5.5 FSS Code 15.2.2.1.1
