Machinery and associated piping and fittings shall be so installed and protected as to reduce to a minimum any danger to persons on board. Packing gland on M/E cooling pump is leaking severly. Packing gland on the pump is replaced bi-weekly by the crew. Request class society to investigate more permanent solution (ie. mechanical seal) for this vessel and sister ships.
