12107-Dangerous Goods(fire protection cargo deck area) - For tankers 20,000 tonnes dead weight and upwards a fixed foam fire-extinguishing system shall be provided complying with the provisions of the fire systems code. {74 SOLAS (14) II-2/10.8.1.1}
The foam concentrate supplied on board shall be approved by the administration for the cargoes intended to be carried. Type A foam concentrates shall be supplied for polar solvent cargoes, as listed in the table of chapter 17 of the IBC Code. {FSSC 14.2.2.1.4}
Vessel's fixed foam extinguishing system is fitted with fluoroprotein type B foam. Certificate of fitness authorizes cargoes that require type A foam as noted under column "L" of chapter 17 of the IBC Code (ie: acrylic acid).
