The condition of the ship and its equipment should be maintained to conform with the provisions of the Code to ensure that the ship will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons onboard. Marine chemist identified area in Cargo Compressor Room by #2 compressor panel with hydrocarbon readings of approximately 8% of LEL. USCG examined with Marine Chemist identified valve on hot gas Line between #2 cargo compressor and #2 cargo condenser leaking butane from central valve stern seal. Vessel crew able to rectify leaking valve stern, immediately to the satisfaction of USCG examiner and certified by Marine chemist.
