Machinery and equipment installed on each vessel must be suitable for the vessel and its operation and for the purpose intended. The vessel suffered a fire to the Port MDE. Affect repairs to engine and prove satisfactory operation of Port MDE to satisfaction of attending Marine Inspector.

The owner or managing operator must be prepared to conduct tests and have the vessel ready for inspection of its fire protection equipment including fixed gas fire extinguiishing system. The vessel discharged the pre-engineered system during an engine room fire. Vessel to install new approved system onboard and prove proper operation to satisfaction of attending marine inspector.
