The means of escape, including stairways and exits, shall be marked by lighting or photo luminescent strip indicators place not more than 300 mm above the deck at all points of the escape route, including angles and intersections. The marking must enable passengers/crew to identify the routes of escape and readily identify the escape exits. Additionally, escape roue signs and fire equipment location markings shall be of photo luminescent material or marked by lighting. PSCO observed extinguished top and bottom stairwell indicator lights in crew stair well. 74 SOLAS 20 II-2/13.3.2.5.1 17ac

Any required low-location lighting (LLL) systems shall be approved by the adminstration. Such means shall consist of a door-latching mechanism incorporating a device that releases the latch upon the application of force in the direction of escape flow. Escape doors from the Victorian Lounge do not have a quick release mechanism and consists of thumb latches that do not release when force is applied to the door release mechanism. The aft door on the Piano Lounge was found to be of the same configuration. 74 SOLAS (20) II-2/13.3.2.6.2
