GAS DETECTION EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE SO DESIGNED IT MAY BE READILY TESTED. TESTING AND CALIBRATION SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT AT REGULAR INTERVALS. PSCO OBSERVED ATTEMPTS BY THE SHIPS CREW TO TEST THE FIXED GAS DETECTION SYSTEM BY APPLYING A 35% LEL PROPANE SPAN GAS TO A SAMPLE POINT IN THE CARGO COMPRESSOR ROOM, WHICH RESULTED IN A READING OF OVER 60% LEL, VIA THE VCM LEL SENSOR WITHIN THE GAS DETECTION SYSTEM. 74 SOLAS (2014) VIII/13.1 1993 IBC CODE/13.6.6
