The purpose of this regulation is to prevent the ignition of combustible materials or flammable liquids. For this purpose, the following functional requirements shall be met: ignition sources shall be separated from combustible materials and flammable liquids. PSCO observed improperly housed wiring for the lube oil and fuel oil purifiers, and the lighting circuit between the auxiliary engine and boiler. 74 SOLAS (20) II-2/4.1.5

Action required: 10 - Deficiency Rectified
Resolved 5 July 2026
Resolution: Crew rectified on the spot, by sealing the opening with electrical putty.
