Where air pipes to ballast and other tanks extend above the freeboard or superstructure decks, the exposed parts of the pipes shall be of substantial construction. Number 4 water ballast tank sounding pipe on starboard side cap has significant amount of corrosion not allowing it to seal to environmental conditions. Action required: 40 - Rectify deficiencies prior to next US port after sailing foreign
Resolved 20 September 2021
Resolution: SHG received Class report attesting that the pipe was de-rusted and re-threaded. Sounding pipe caps were replaced.
