Maintenance testing, and inspections shall be carried out based on the guidelines developed by the organization and in a manner having due regard to ensuring the reliability of fire-fighting systems and appliances. PSCO observed crew attempting to use heat gun taped to an iron rod to test a heat detector which does not adhere to the fire detection operating instruction procedures carried on board the vessel. SOLAS 74(am) 2014(cons.) II-2/14.2.2.1

Resolution: Vessel sent in a tech report verifying the radar has been fixed and is now operational.

Lifesaving › Lifeboat Equipment › Food Ration

The packages of food rations onboard both Life Boats are no longer holding a proper seal. Vessel does not have sufficient lifesaving food rations in case of abondon ship. SOLAS 74/78 (2009 CONS) CHAP III REG 13.4 LSA CODE CHAP IV REG 4.4.8.12. Rectify deficiencies to the satisfaction of the US Coast Guard.
