THE FUNCTION OF FIXED FIRE DETECTION AND FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS SHALL BE PERIODICALLY TESTED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ADMINISTRATION BY MEANS OF EQUIPMENT PRODUCING HOT AIR AT THE APPROPIATE TEMPERATURE. PSCO OBSERVED AN OPEN FLAME ACETYLENE TORCH USED AS THE ONLY FLAME DETECTOR EQUIPMENT FOR OPERATION WHICH EXCEEDS THE APPROPIATE TEMPERATURE TO TEST THE DETECTOR WITHOUT DAMAGING THE ALARM. 74 SOLAS (04) II-2/7.3.2
