PSCO OBSERVED A DRIFT OF THE VESSEL'S STEERING GEAR WHILE USING THE NUMBER TWO STEERING PUMP LOCALLY AND FROM NON-FOLLOW UP. 74SOLAS(20)I/11

Issued 15 October 2019 Resolved
The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to ship or persons on board. Vessel captain informed PSCO of a crack in cargo hold #4 that was discovered by crew. The crack was located on the forward bulkhead adjacent to a ballast tanktop. The crack is approx 10 inches long.
Condition: Invalid
Action required: 17 - Rectify deficiencies prior to departure
Resolved 4 October 2020
Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report from DNV GL stating the deficiency was rectified. Permanent repair of tank top, NDT and tightness were tested and examined by class surveyor.
