In tankers, electrical equipment, cables, and wiring shall not be installed in hazardous locations unless it conforms with standards not inferior to those acceptable to the organization. PSCO observed wiring to two lighting installations on forward end of cargo deck not installed to acceptable standards. 74 SOLAS (20) II-1/45.11

74 SOLAS (2004) II-2/5.5.1.1 FSS CODE 2.2.1.2.5 For tankers of 20,000 tonnes deadweight and upwards, the protection of the cargo tanks shall be achieved by a fixed inert gas system in accordance with the Fire Safety Systems Code. The system shall be capable of: delivering inert gas with an oxygen content of not more than 5% by volume to the cargo tanks at any required rate of flow. The IG shut-off valve was not working properly.
