06105- Atmosphere Testing Instruments - The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons on board. PSCO observed that multiple flow faults occurred when cycling fixed gas detection of ballast tanks that did not contain ballast water. Vessel crew has portable means to sample ballast tanks onboard. Resolution: Received class report from ABS stating the crew was able to purge the Fixed Gas Detection, and it was now fully functioning. The surveyor witnessed it go through the sampling cycle twice, and found it operating satisfactorily without any alarms.
