Vessel no longer has the appropriate calibration gas for the oxygen meter. The meters were calibrated prior to use in this port and the supply was exhausted. Vessel is required to calibrate the meters prior to each period of use or monthly (whichever is more frequent) in accordance with the ships ISM. Vessel must provide the appropriate CAL gas prior to the next US port (Code 15a)

Resolution: Vessel purchased one 1,500 liter Nitrogen Gas Bottle for calibration of oxygen meter. Recieved class report on 17 November, 2007.

The vessels safety management system section of the cargo handling in loaded passage does not adequately address cargo tank atmospheres for cargoes that liberate oxygen (off gas), such as JET A1. SOLAS regulations only require the vessel to monitor a positive cargo pressure, which the vessel is currently performing. However, this practice alone does not account for cargo off gas, See narrative.
