In tankers, a system for continuous monitoring of the concentrations of hydrocarbon gases shall be fitted. Sampling points or detector heads shall be located in suitable positions in order that potentially dangerous leakages are readily detected. PSCO was unable to verify the integrity of the sample lines in the cargo pump-room via flow fault alarm. While line was manually measuring and sample point was plugged at the area, flow meter's ball did not drop and instead gave a H2S alarm at the panel.
