Before the ship leaves port and at all times during the voyage, all life-saving appliances shall be in working order and ready for immediate use. The rescue boat davit limit switch was malfunctioning, not allowing rescue boat to be properly recovered. 74SOLAS(20)III/20.2

Resolution: Vessel's engineering department was able to repair faulty limit switch and conduct satisfactory davit operation in the presence of PSCO.
