2020 - Fire Drills - Crew members shall be trained to be familiar with the arrangements of the ship as well as the location and operation of any fire-fighting systems and appliances that they may be called upon to use. PSCOs observed both fire party members not outfitted properly when the fire outfits were donned. Engineer officer was not aware of the local remote switches for the water/hypermist system. SCBA used was a training one that had a defective facemask. 03 of the visual alarms (general and fire) in the engine room and one audible alarm in the steering gear room were inoperable. 74 SOLAS (2014) II-2/15.2.2.1 10c

Resolution: All items corrected on the spot. Training was given to crewmembers on proper fire fighting techniques and fire equipment donning.
