Vessel has a diesel leak from an unknown source and discharged diesel into the water. Trouble shoot source and repair/replace.

Propulsion machinery must be suitable type and design for propulsion requirements of the hull in which it is installed and capable of operating at constant marine load under such requirements without exceeding its designed limitations. The port main engine heat exchanger cooling system was found leaking during an operational test of the engine. A technician later identified a wasted gasket on the cooling pump. Replace the cooling pump gasket and operationally test the main engine to the satisfaction of the CG marine inspector. 46 CFR 182.200 (a)

The engine head, block, and exhaust manifold must be water jacketed and cooled by water from a pump that operates whenever the engine is operating. The crew witnessed the auxiliary generator over heat and auto shut down in accordance with manufacturer alarm set points. Visual inspection of the generator revealed water leaking from cooling water piping under the impeller. A technician later identified air in the cooling system and additional water leaks. Make satisfactory repairs and operationally test the engine to the satisfaction of the CG marine inspector. 46 CFR 182.420 (a)(1)
