All vessels except unmanned barges shall be provided with a satisfactory bilge pumping plant capable of pumping from and draining any watertight compartment. Vessels bilge system failed to operate and several valves were found without labels. Vessel is required to make repairs and test all bilge suction points before departure.

Resolution: ABS attended the vessel and witnessed a satisfactory test of all 7 bilge suction points and the new valve label plates that were originally missing.

Each vessel must meet the applicable requirements in subchapter S of this chapter. Vessel Class I watertight doors for the emergency escape leading out of the engine room and the Class I watertight door leading into the steering compartment from the engine room would not close and dog properly. Vessel is required to maintain and have working watertight doors as per the stability letter and for the safety of the vessel and crew.

Resolution: Vessel crew removed improperly installed washers on the watertight door hinges and corrected misalignment.
