The normal equipment of every lifeboat shall consist of a food ration consisting of no less than 10,000 KJ for each person the liferaft is permitted to accomadate these rations shall be kept in airtight packaging. Thirteen of twenty eight rations were found not in airtight packaging was worn. 74SOLAS(14)III/34 ref. LSA4.4.8.12

0613 - Before the ship leaves port & at all times during the voyage, all lifesaving appliances shall be in working order & ready for immediate use. PSCO discovered fall prevention devices on both life boats nullifying the releasing mechanisms. Instructions for use & roles of personnel for removal regarding the fall protection devices are not depicted in the manufacturer's operating instructions.
