FSS CODE Chapter 15.2.2.1.1 - For tankers of 20,000 tonnes deadweight and upwards, the protection of cargo tanks shall be achieved by a fixed inert gas system in accordance with the requirement of the Fire Satey System Code. The inert gas system referred to in chapter II-2 of the Convention shall be designed, constructed and tested to the satisfaction of the Administration. It shall be designed to be capable of the rendering and maintaining the atmostphere of the relevant cargo tanks non-flammable. The inert gas generator on board is able to ignite but loses power shortly after start and is unable to maintain flame.
